Welcome! My name is Jordan Long and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a Los Angeles native, currently living in San Francisco, and see clients in person in San Francisco, CA and virtually throughout California.

My passions and specializations are working with adolescents and young adults, OCD and anxiety disorders, and cancer, chronic illness, and grief.

I have over four years of experience working with people impacted by cancer through multiple non-profit cancer support organizations. I currently lead support groups for caregivers and loved ones, young adult patients and survivors, and early stage breast cancer. In my practice, I see individuals with cancer, caregivers, children, families, survivors, and bereaved individuals. I also see children and adults who are impacted by other medical conditions such as autoimmune disorders, chronic illness, and chronic pain.

I have six+ years of experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults who struggle with anxiety and life transitions. I have specific expertise of treating anxiety disorders including panic disorder, OCD, specific phobias, and generalized anxiety.

I hold a Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy degree from the University of Southern California, and Bachelor of Science Degree in psychology from Southern Methodist University. I am the author of the children’s book “Anxiety In My Body” which was released in February of 2025.

When I am not in sessions, you can find me watching or reading true-crime stories, trying new restaurants, and enjoying the outdoors with my dog and fiancé!

WHY OCD AND ANXIETY?

I was guided towards the career path as a therapist following my own challenges with generalized anxiety and panic disorder that came to a head in my college years. Looking back, my anxiety began in childhood with manifestations of OCD and panic attacks, however I was never taught about anxiety and was completely unaware how it can affect daily life until it completely altered mine. Seeing a therapist changed my life for the better, and I realized the strength of the mind-body connection and importance of taking care of our minds.

This is why I am a therapist. To support others the same way that my multiple therapists have supported me with my mental health. There is no one-size fits all to therapy, and I will provide you with individualized care to help you learn tools and be your best self.

Why cancer and chronic illness?

Like many of you, my family has been impacted by cancer. Cancer has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, specifically with my mom’s 40+ year commitment to finding a cure for breast cancer. She passed on this passion to me at a young age, and I am a proud member of the Susan G. Komen Foundation “Pink Bubble,” so that no one fights cancer alone. I lead support groups at Cancer Support Community, Bay Area Young Survivors, and am a mentor for Walk with Sally, three incredible non-profit cancer support organizations.

My personal experience with chronic illness and family history of cancer demonstrate just how powerfully physical illness transforms one's life. Illness has an effect on relationships, body image, identity, and so much more. Physical and mental health are extraordinarily intertwined and I am here to support your mind during this physically challenging time.

WHY ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS?

Unsurprisingly, I was once an adolescent and young adult! This time in life is exhilarating, exciting, overwhelming and uncertain, and it may be hard to navigate this on your own. From school to work to relationships, it is valuable to have someone to talk to outside of family and friends. I work with you to help you confront any negative thinking, discover your strengths, and explore your identity.

I began my work with adolescents and young adults as a camp counselor, cognitive trainer, and ADHD testing assistant, prior to becoming a therapist. These experiences opened my eyes to the shared experiences that this age range goes through, and guided me towards the mental health field.
